Great Photos...

The above photos were taken with a Canon G10 PowerShot in Paris last October..
and yes, that's a point-and-shoot.

I know many of you received one of the latest and greatest cameras this year, and now you’re excited and thinking . . . perfect! Now . . . how do I use this thing? Digital cameras are getting easier to use all the time, but here a few tips to get the most out of your camera.

  • Keep your new camera close by. If you want to catch your kids “in the moment,” the camera can’t be very far away. Find a secure place in your main living space that is easily accessible at a moment’s notice.

  • Get close. If you want to capture the emotion on their faces, get close. If you’re too close, your camera will let you know by not allowing you take the picture.

  • Limit distractions. I can’t tell you how many snapshots I’ve seen in which the subject, a tiny little child in the middle of a room full of distractions, is completely lost in a sea of other “subjects”. Again, get closer . . . can’t say this enough.

  • Don't erase the photos "in camera", a common mistake. There are many reasons why this is a bad idea but mainly, the quality of your in-camera display is not equal to the output you will receive.

  • Buy a memory card with at least 4 GB .

  • And a little bonus tip: Print the photos!! Don't keep your captured memories stuck in the camera card.

  • Finally, if all else fails: Read the manual!!

Welcome 2010!

With so much going on, it's hard to believe I have time to think of anything to Blog about. On the contrary, a New Year has brought about many thoughts of "That's amazing! I have to tell people..."

With our kids growing like weeds, most of us moms spent the holidays cleaning out closets. Personally, I've moved past the "I'll save that for..." and after just 2 episodes of A&E's life-changing "Hoarders" program, I've vowed to let it go after accumulating 5 bins of clothing from my not-yet-two-year-old daughter. Off it went: some to friends and everything else straight to charity. Empty closets = shopping!

Which leads me to...I have to tell you about Elegant Child. Ahhh, Elegant Child! Truly one-of-a-kind, high quality merchandise that won't break the bank! Rene and Autumn are happy to help you find unforgettable gifts (that your friends won't have to return) and stay within your budget. Tu-tus, toys, books, and bows, bows, bows!!! Not tacky or tired, their selection is just amazing. They also have a registry option that will make your life (and your mother-in-law's) much easier! Elegant Child's Winter sale is going on right now: 40% off! And the spring tunics for girls also have matching tunics for us moms! You have to check it out!

Busy as a bee!

It's November already? October was booked solid!!
When the pumpkins come out moms start thinking: FAMILY PHOTOS! The calendar is almost booked solid and many of you who know me, know that it's hard for me to say "no" to the schools, the charity organizations, and most importantly the amazing families I'm enjoying capturing. I still have a few openings-don't get left out! Since there are too many goodies to post from October, I'll leave you with a small sample of some fun Sunny South Florida shoots.

Sweet Shayna

Love this family right from the start! I find that babies are born with their own personalities and I can already tell that sweet Shayna has her mother's good looks and her father's killer sense of humor. She was so chill through our 2 hour shoot that there has to be a gene in there for "Supermodel".

Elle... Future Supermodel

Elle brought sunshine and laughter to an overcast day at the Marina. We bonded over Webkinz. An adorable girl with her own sense of style-Miss Elle clearly has her mother's impeccable taste. XOXO Chrissie and Elle!
